FAQ
What is Counselling Psychology?
Counselling Psychology is an applied field of psychology focused on helping individuals manage everyday challenges and improve their emotional well-being and overall functioning. It is applied across various domains, including professional, social, emotional, developmental, educational, and health and supports not only individuals facing psychological difficulties but also those seeking personal growth and self-awareness.
Despite the term “counselling,” the process is not about giving advice. Instead, it involves a collaborative relationship between the psychologist and the client, aiming to explore experiences, enhance coping skills, and support meaningful changes that lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
How Can the Therapeutic Process Help Me?
Psychotherapy offers a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. It helps build self-awareness, strengthens your ability to manage difficulties, and supports personal growth and emotional development.
The therapeutic relationship is a partnership based on trust, mutual respect, and a shared goal of improving your mental well-being. As a psychologist, I use my training and clinical experience to support you with empathy, professionalism, and care.
Through therapy, you can gain deeper insight into yourself, discover your inner strengths, and navigate life’s challenges in a more empowered and meaningful way. Every person is unique, and the therapeutic journey is always tailored to reflect that — offering a space for healing, change, and self-discovery.
How Often and for How Long Will I Need Therapy?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The frequency and duration of therapy depend on your individual needs, your goals, and the nature of the issues you'd like to work on.
Some clients come for short-term therapy to address specific concerns, while others engage in longer-term work to explore deeper aspects of themselves and their lives. Therapy may evolve over time, and new goals or focus areas may emerge along the way.
Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly, but the frequency can be adjusted based on your availability and therapeutic needs.
What Is the Cost and Duration of a Session?
Each session lasts 45 minutes and the cost is €50.
Accepted payment methods:
– Cash (for in-person sessions)
– Bank transfer
– Online payment (for online sessions)
What About Confidentiality in Therapy?
Confidentiality is a core principle of psychotherapy and a foundation of trust between psychologist and client. I am ethically and legally committed to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding everything shared during sessions.
All information discussed is considered strictly private and will not be shared with third parties without your explicit written consent.
Confidentiality may only be lifted in specific circumstances as required by law, such as:
– If there is a serious risk to your safety or the safety of others
– In cases involving the abuse or neglect of a minor or vulnerable person
– If disclosure is ordered by a legal or judicial authority
Your safety, dignity, and freedom of expression are always respected and protected throughout the therapeutic process.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
Life can be unpredictable, and I fully understand that schedules may change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, the full session fee will be charged, as that time has been reserved exclusively for you.
